CIA MK-Ultra Mind Control – Victims, the story, the History

by Tad Donley

Survivors and families affected by Project MK-Ultra, also called the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) mind control program, administered at McGill University’s Allan Memorial Institute in Montreal are preparing a class-action lawsuit against the Quebec and federal governments because of what they alleged had been done to them five decades ago.

According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), more than forty Canadians for the first time gathered at a Montreal condo over the weekend to share their disturbing stories about how MK-Ultra destroyed their lives.

“The government should offer an apology and there should be recognition of the injustice that was done,” says Gina Blasbalg, who unknowingly, like so many others, became a patient at the Allan Memorial Institute in her teens in the 1960s.

My name is Ellen Atkin. That is my grade 2 class photo inset on the right. The girl in the bed is me. My mother was Emma Jane Crunican. She was in the Sleep Therapy programme in Montreal in the 50’s. My father, John Atkin, was also a subject of MK-Ultra. My brother, Michael Atkin, died when he was 19. My sister is heavily medicated after going insane in the ‘80’s.

Survivors Allied Against Government Abuse (SAAGA), as the group calls itself on Facebook, includes both victims and family members of Canadians who unknowingly participated in the CIA-funded brainwashing experiments under the supervision of Dr. Ewen Cameron, director of the psychiatric hospital between the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s.

During the length of the program, Cameron conducted “depatterning” and “psychic driving” experiments that attempted to erase a patient’s memories and even to reprogram them with new thoughts.

The Canadian government funded Cameron with roughly $500,000 between 1950 and 1965 — $4 million in 2018 dollars, along with sizeable funding from the CIA. Project MK-Ultra at Allan Memorial Institute in Montreal operated using a front organization called the Society for the Investigation of Human Ecology.

Anton Chaitkin explains in his essay “British Psychiatry: From Eugenics to Assassination” under the MK Ultra section: “Cameron would drug his victims to sleep for weeks on end, waking them daily only to administer violent electric shocks to the brain. . . . Patients lost all or part of their memories, and some lost the ability to control their bodily functions and to speak.”

After reducing them to a childlike state – at times stripping them of basic skills such as how to dress themselves or tie their shoes – Cameron would attempt to reprogram them by bombarding them with recorded messages for up to 16 hours at a time. First came negative messages about their inadequacies, followed by positive ones, in some cases repeated up to half a million times.

“He couldn’t get his patients to listen to them enough so he put speakers in football helmets and locked them on their heads,” said Johnson. “They were going crazy banging their heads into walls, so he then figured he could put them in a drug induced coma and play the tapes as long as he needed.”

“It tainted our whole family,” said Alison Steel, whose mother was admitted to the institute in 1957.

Her mother was 33 years old at the time, reeling from the loss of her first child and showing signs of depression. “Back at that time, this Dr Cameron, he was this miracle psychiatrist,” said Steel. “He was supposed to do wonders with people with depression or mental health issues.”

Dr. Mengala’s (now called Dr. Green) and his experiments on children crossed the waters to the US after World War 11 to begin MK Ultra Mind Control

Steel’s mother, Jean, was put into chemically induced sleep, once for 18 days and a second time for 29 days. She was subjected to rounds of electroshocks, injections of experimental drugs and seemingly endless bouts of recorded messages.

“They say it was torture for human beings, human torture,” said Steel, who was four years old when her mother was hospitalised. “What they attempt to do is erase your emotions. They strip you of your soul.”

Cameron, the psychiatrist behind the experiments, died in 1967 of a heart attack while mountain climbing, but recent decades have seen various attempts by former patients and their families to hold the Canadian government and the CIA accountable.

In 1992, the Canadian government, which had provided grants from several agencies to fund Cameron’s research, offered compensation payments of C$100,000 (US$78,000) to 77 former patients of the institute who had been reduced to a childlike state. Hundreds of others – including Steel’s mother – were denied compensation, at times because they were deemed not to have been damaged enough by the experiments.

By the 1990s, there remained only 3,000 survivors out of 30K orphans forced to undergo horrendous experiments.  The Duplessis Orphans were named after Maurice Duplessis, the Premier of Quebec. The government, Church, and the College of Physicians of Quebec came under fire after some of the orphans found copies of their medical records that had been falsified. Labelled as mentally deficient, many of these children were subjected to electroshock, a variety of drug testing and used in other medical experiments. Released upon reaching the legal age of maturity, they were uneducated and ill-equipped to cope with life as adults

Many other claims have come to light regarding the destroyed CIA documents, thanks to whistleblowers who have come forward who were involved in the actual experiments. A 1954 document allegedly stated that two hypnotized women were forced into conflict, with an agent telling one of the women to “fly into a rage and shoot her,” which she allegedly did.

A hypnotist involved in the experiments came forward, admitting he hypnotized and forced “young girls to engage in sexual intercourse with him.” Other MK Ultra test subjects were allegedly put through sleep deprivation and were made to eat their own feces and drink their own urine.

Chaitkin explained: “For the CIA, Cameron tested the South American poison called curare, which kills a victim while simulating natural heart failure.”

Many whistleblowers have come forward stating that a classified program called Monarch Mind Control (MMC) continued on, which included many children as test subjects. MMC is noted as a mind control technique that combines occult rituals, psychology, and neuroscience to create an alter ego within a desired subject. It is believed by many that once fully programmed, monarch slaves are then used on demand by an elite group to carry out rituals, sexual performances, deliver messages, etc. to achieve a desired outcome.

It is known that there were deaths within the experiments, and not just referring to the test subjects. There were also mysterious murder/suicide situations, like when biochemist Frank Olson, who worked on MK Ultra test subjects, allegedly committed suicide, though the medical examiner found his injuries to be consistent with a homicide.

Patients started the program with relatively insignificant mental health issues, such as anxiety or depression. In many cases, Cameron tested “drugs like LSD and PCP, medically induced sleep for extended periods, and oversaw extreme forms of electroshock therapy and sensory deprivation,” explained CBC. MK Ultra experiments also involved sexual and physical abuse, drug testing, hypnosis, mind control, and other types of torture.

Some patients have even claimed, they were forced into medically-induced comas for days or weeks at a time while a speaker played looped noises or repeated phrases.

MK Ultra child sexual abuse

The CIA designed LSD with a Swiss manufacturer as part of the MK Ultra program in hopes that they could force people to take it and convince them to do unspeakable acts, all of which they’d forget the following morning, once the drugs wore off. Testing started with unwilling participants being lured into a hotel room by prostitutes, who would then slip the drugs into their drinks. A CIA agent would then watch the test subjects as they tripped out behind a wall of the hotel room.

The particular project within MK Ultra that the prostitutes were involved with was called Midnight Climax. This eventually turned into full-blown brothels in the U.S. run by the CIA, whereby the women working there would lure men into them, but instead of receiving sexual favours, were unknowingly drugged and then observed by CIA agents.

The CIA then started to test willing patients in lab settings, observing their reactions to LSD and asking them questions. To their disappointment, instead of helping them control their patients’ minds, LSD actually freed their minds. Despite the propaganda campaign on the war on drugs, whereby the government was telling people they were against all drug use, it was the government who brought LSD over and put it in the hands of the public.

CIA agents were able to successfully mind control many victims, many of whom were children. Kids were locked in steel cages stacked to the roof in warehouses on military bases. Many were turned into child sex slaves to service dignitaries for blackmail, favors, and assassinations. Their senses were driven to extreme heights and developed acute sight awareness and a photographic memory. These child sex slaves could memorize word for word a message used for them to repeat to any chosen receiver.

Cathy O’brien was sold and contracted to the CIA into MK Ultra mind control program as a child. Torture, sex slave to high dignitaries that you know. I’ll let her tell you…

Chaitkin also went on to detail the funding of the MK Ultra experiments, explaining the elite’s role in it, including a “Masonic charity” and a 33rd degree mason. The elite’s involvement with MK Ultra and associated programs runs deep, and some of the more underground practices inspired by MK Ultra still occur today.

Ted Gunderson, a former FBI special agent and head of their L.A. office, worked to uncover years’ worth of information on high-level pedophilia, sexual abuse, and satanic rituals performed by the elite, some of which related to MK Ultra.

A 1975 document addressed to the President stated: “The drug program was part of a much larger CIA program to study possible means for controlling human behavior. Other studies explored the effects of radiation, electric-shock, psychology, psychiatry, sociology and harassment substances.”

In a 1992 speech, well-respected author and psychologist Dr. Cory Hammond delved deep into the subject of Monarch Mind Control. He states, “What they basically do is they will get a child and they will start this, in basic forms it appears, by about two-and-a-half after the child’s already been made dissociative. They’ll make him dissociative not only through abuse, like sexual abuse, but also things like putting a mousetrap on their fingers and teaching the parents, “You do not go in until the child stops crying. Only then do you go in and remove it.” They start in rudimentary forms at about age two and a half and kick into high gear, it appears, around six or six and a half, continue through adolescence with periodic reinforcements in adulthood.”

“These were innocent people that went in for mild depression… They came out completely ravaged and their life was ruined,” Marlene Levenson, whose aunt was admitted to Allan Memorial Institute, told CTV Montreal.

Angela Bardosh’s mother Nancy Layton, who attended the Allan Memorial Institute decades ago, showed CTV Montreal a note from her mother that read: “They destroyed many parts of me. I’m lucky to be alive.”

Bardosh said her mother was admitted to the facility as a teenager due to depression. Bardosh claims her mother spent six months in Cameron’s MK-Ultra program, where she developed acute schizophrenia and ruined her entire life.

“It’s horrific to go back, it’s very emotional,” said Bardosh. “For me, personally, it took me years to even read my mom’s medical records.”

The survivors and families of Project MK-Ultra have now banded together and announced at the Sunday meeting that a major class-action lawsuit against Quebec and federal governments is nearing.

“A class-action lawsuit to sue the Canadian government, maybe also the Quebec government and the Allan Memorial Institute. It would first have to be approved by the Quebec Superior Court, which could take four to six months,” said Montreal lawyer Alan Stein, who has represented numerous survivors of Project MK-Ultra at the Allan Memorial Institute facility.

In an email to CBC, the Candian Justice Department said that a 1986 inquiry by George Cooper into Cameron’s Project MK-Ultra “concluded that Canada did not hold any legal liability or moral responsibility in respect of these treatments.”
